The Time is Near
I can hardly believe that we are so near to the 2017 Christmas release! It seems like only yesterday we were releasing The Faceless Nutcracker and The Clause Rebellion, just stepping out on our own with our first release party. If you didn't make it last year, I am so sorry that you missed it. It was fabulous even if I do say so myself. There were so many precious memories made last year. We were able to see loved ones from Pell City that we had not seen in years as well as family and friends we see more frequently.
Giving out door prizes was amazing as my niece got really into, but my favorite part was when we ran out. I know that sounds crazy, but it showed off a precious character trait in my niece. It absolutely broke her heart that everyone couldn't win one; although, we came very close to exactly that.
This year should be just as joyous and momentous an occasion. We have a new location that I am truly excited about. Having our first release at the Ashville Library was perfect, but I have always loved Roses and Lace Country Inn from afar. I say from afar, because I have never set foot inside. I dare say that's the case for many of us from all around St. Clair County and beyond. It is so beautiful a place from the outside. I can't wait to see it inside, and I can't wait to see it decorated for Christmas!
If you follow my blog, you've already heard about the books we are set to release, but bare with me a moment while I share with our new readers. With every release Yarbrough House Publishing does, we release one children's book and one novel for adult/young adult.
Our children's book this release is Nutcracker Versus Nutcracker. Everyone always asks about my inspiration, but y'all, I honestly can't remember. The children's books for me are easy, quick, and simple. The real work comes in the illustrations, and if you haven't seen my sister's work, you are in for a treat. Sandy is an amazing artist and an amazing designer. You will absolutely fall in love with her colorful characters.
The storyline behind the illustrations is about two nutcrackers, identical in almost every way. What set them apart was that one was a toy maker and the other a toy thief. After the toy maker has his shelves wiped bare by the thief, he will learn firsthand exactly how valuable friendship can be. He has nothing left, nothing but friends and neighbors who had been touched in the past by the toy maker's generosity. Now that the toy maker is in need of a little generosity, others are happy to give. The toy maker learns that he didn't lose everything after all, because he has friends. He had all he'd ever need. The toy thief, on the other hand, finally realizes what it was that he really wanted, and it had nothing to do with the toys he had stolen.
This book is a heart jerker for the adults and a life lesson for the kids. It is a great way to introduce an important talking point with your kids. Remember that kids aren't born knowing this. They learn from those all around them.
Attack On the Clause is the novel being released. It is the second book in the Clause Series following up The Clause Rebellion. If you haven't started reading this unique series yet, I encourage you to start. No, it's not because I wrote them. They really are delightful books. I've had so much fun writing each and every one of the Clause books, and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and rereading them as I work my way from one installment to the next.
The first book is from Wynter Clause's perspective. The daughter of Santa, Wynter, feels unimportant and ignored at home in the North Pole, so she rebels running away to the South Pole. The problem is that the South Pole hates the North Pole and vise versa due to a generations old feud. In the end, Wynter ends up back home in the North Pole a little wiser. She brought home with her new friendships, new love, and finally the knowledge of her own place in the world.
In Attack On the Clause, things have come to a point of no return. There are those who intend to put an end to the feud no matter what it takes. The South Pole is split. Some want to see peace, while others just want to see the North Pole pay. The conflict will come between friends and put huge rifts in families, but one thing is certain. This time everyone must choose a side.
The question is which side will you choose?
I can't wait to see you all at the release on November 12, 2017 at Roses and Lace Country Inn 2:00-4:00. Be ready to choose your own side!
