When Things Go Well

Sometimes all you can say is wow. In the last blog, I shared with you about a couple events coming up. Both events took place last weekend, and I am still in a state of shock at how well they went.

The first event was a women's event at First Baptist Church in Pell City. It was a chance for women to get together and just be together . . . oh-, and shopping of course. Venders, ourselves included, set up around the outside edge of the room (multipurpose room/gym), and the shopping started an hour before the meal was served. All the ticket proceeds went toward the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, and 10% of the venders proceeds went toward the offering as well. A great cause at the church where I grew up, right off the bat, it is a win-win. Y'all, you're not going to believe this, but we sold $450 worth of books! You can understand why I'm just awestruck still, but that wasn't even the best part of the night. The best part of the night was getting to see so many of the women in my life who I hadn't seen for seventeen or eighteen years. We signed up to be a vender at next years too, and I can't wait!

For the second event that weekend, we were supposed to do a vender booth at Gargus Market's Christmas at the Market. I'll be honest with you. It was cold and raining. Books don't agree with wet, and I don't agree with cold. We were seriously thinking about bailing, but we didn't want to just not show up. So, we got there and told them about our problem with keeping the books dry. What you need to understand about Gargus Market is that they have a rather large wrap around porch where they display merchandise. They were so sweet to shift their merchandise around to get the venders underneath the porch. Talk about worth it; we sold 10 books. We'd never sold 10 books at a festival. They are sweet, sweet people who garnered a lot of business. Traffic was steady right up until the Alabama game started. If you haven't checked them out yet, you should.

Well, that's what we have been up to lately. Busy, busy, busy. Be sure to find us on Facebook for more information on our books.
