Little Blessings
Are we always grateful for the little things, or do we tend to overlook them?
At night, I wake up, usually every two hours like clockwork, to roll to the other side of the bed. The closer the morning draws, I try to make sure I'm facing the alarm clock, because I hate that annoying alarm beeping sound. It wakes me up, but I don't want to have to listen to it for as long as it takes me to detach myself from the covers and roll over to reach for the clock.
Monday, I rolled over to face the clock at 4:59, and my alarm was set for 5:00. No sooner than I had acknowledged the time the alarm started blaring. The timing was so perfect, all I could think was, wow, that's a God thing, and yes, I did thank Him. In the grand scheme of things, having to listen to the annoying beep would not have hurt me or altered the course of my life. It was simply an annoyance. God didn't have to work the timing out so perfect just to keep me from being annoyed, but He did. How is that for a show of love? When was the last time you went out of your way to keep a loved one from feeling annoyance?
In our lives we look for the bigger blessings, but do we remember all the little things that God does for us every single day? I bet if we could add them all up, we would be amazed at just how much He's done.
