Book Obsessed?

Quote: "Sleep is good. Books are better." George R.R. Martin

That's more like it! I hear different people talk about how they read at night to wind down before going to sleep, and you see it on TV all the time that people take a book to bed. How can you read yourself to sleep?

If I take a book with me to bed, I might as well give up on sleep. I will literally lay there and read all night long or until I finish the book, whichever comes first. I've learned that about myself the hard way on several occasions. I know better now, and of course, I never take a book with me unless I am close to the end and plan to finish it before sleeping. It is sort of nice to know that I am not the only crazy person who will forgo sleep to read a good book.

Am I obsessed? Maybe. Probably. It helps though. I see so many varied writing styles, and there is something to learn from each and everyone. Unfortunately, I do read the occasional that I learn what not to do, but sometimes I just think, wow. I really like the authors who start secondary characters' stories to be finished later in a sequel. That was a method that got me really hooked! I couldn't wait to get to the next book and finish their story. But, then the inevitable happens. I get to the end of the series and have no choice but to wait. As an author, I understand that it isn't easy to kick the books out as fast as we read them. Easy nothing, it isn't possible! Still, the wait is hard.

I think the more I read and the more I write, the better my writing is getting. At least that is my hope, but I'll let my readers be the judge of that.

Just in case there are any readers out there curious about what happened to Wynter and Anthony after The Clause Rebellion, there is a second book coming out in September, Attack On the Clause.
